HOW TO INSTALL MODS using Fallout 76 Quick Configuration Hello there! Understandably, many people are confused about the mod manager, so I made this guide. I know this guide looks long and boring, but I recommend taking the time and reading all of it. I try my best to cut to the chase, promised. In Fallout 76 you should use and carry up to 3 weapon items: melee, long-range and close-range guns. Take some light melee weapon if you're not planning to use it often to save weight, like Combat Knife. Or carry only one gun if you're playing with a melee build. Grilled Radstag, increases your carrying capacity for a while.

Modifying weapons in Fallout 76 is an integral part of the game, allowing the Dwellers of Vault 76 to upgrade their weapons.
Overview
In Fallout 76, weapon modifications can be made to most weapons, including unique weapons. Weapons have different slots for customization, with varying amounts of slots and possible mods, depending on the base weapon. Weapons can be found with mods on them from enemies or various containers.
Weapons can be modified at a weapons workbench. Some mods may require certain perks, such as Gunsmith for the player to be able to craft the item. Mods cannot be salvaged from other weapons by replacing the mod with a different one.
Most importantly the player does not have access to the complete set of weapon modifications from the get go. Even if they equip a perk card enabling high-level mods, the game will not teach them automatically. They can only be gained by either finding plans in the wild, scrapping weapons, which has a chance to teach a random modification, or simply looting weapons with better mods and using them. Mod blueprints can also be earned as quest rewards. Mod boxes also still drop as random loot, but still cannot be applied without the proper skill level.
There are dozens of base weapons with different modifications that can be made at the weapons workbench, including different receivers, sights, barrels, stocks, magazines, and grips for projectile weapons alone. Melee weapons may be modified with different grips, materials, and bludgeoning or slicing attachments.
Modifications
- Please see the relevant weapon pages for a list of mods available for that weapon.
Every base weapon has a large number of modifications for the slots it offers, which directly alter various aspects: Damage, speed of aiming, magazine capacity, accuracy, and so on and so forth. Detailed mod tables have been posted on each of the weapon pages for the sake of brevity.
