Family Literacy Day – January 27, 2021

Family Literacy Day takes place on January 27, 2021 – an annual initiative in its 22nd year that aims to raise awareness of the importance of learning together as a family.

Serving dynamic lessons in english language arts & social studies. Bryan's learning cafe: home; our classroom; 6th grade ela. 1:00 class practicing kicks! We had some inclement weather rolling in so we had to get through our drills a little more quickly than usual. I’ve really enjoyed working alongside people in their journeys and learning and growing to better equip them for the future! As an athlete for most of my life, I’ve learned so much through the sports I’ve played, but I’ve also got to coach many kids along the way and build into them in volleyball camps, as well as being a leader at a.

This year’s theme is Travel the World Together (not literally of course!). After a year of limited mobility, ABC Life Literacy Canada, the founder of Family Literacy Day, is encouraging families to use their imagination to explore and travel the world from the comfort of their home.

“My name is Kirsty Abbott, formerly Kindrachuk. I just graduated this past April with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and minor in Kinesiology from Briercrest College (2015-2020). I also played for 5 years and co-captained for 3 on the Briercrest women’s volleyball team at Briercrest College— this year, I am in the CCAA Female apprenticeship coaching program encouraging female leadership in sport under my former head coach Nolan Weinmaster. My overall aspiration for my career is to pursue Physiotherapy— I love movement, motivation, and growing one’s potential! I’ve really enjoyed working alongside people in their journeys and learning and growing to better equip them for the future!
